I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour celebrating and promoting the launch of Janice Horton’s latest novel: Island in the Sun.

Island in the Sun is my first introduction to the work of Janice Horton.  Janice is affectionately known as the backpacking housewife after selling up her home and setting off on a momentous journey around the world.  Through her travel experiences Janice has written an idyllic romance/family saga set on a remote Caribbean island.

Island in the Sun is a captivating story of two halves about the lives of two women in two timeframes who found solace in a beautiful island were life paused a little for people to enjoy a more simpler way of life.

The story starts off in the present day to when Isla receives the very sad news of the death of her Aunt Kate.  Aunt Kate lived on the quiet island in the Caribbean, known as Isla de las Perlas.  Isla has been handed a package that holds the clues to the past of her Aunt’s life and it also brings back many memories of Isla’s childhood when she herself lived on the island.

Returning back to the island for the funeral is filled with many mixed emotions for Isla as she left her Aunt and the island very abruptly 10 years ago.  Isla was not only angry with her Aunt she was also heartbroken with leaving the home she knew best and her boyfriend Leo.

The mystery of Isla’s sudden departure from the island and of her Aunt’s colourful past is slowly revealed as the story travels back and forth in time.  Startling discoveries are made and we witness glitz, glamour and excitement to a new adventure on a tropical island.  However, not all is blissful on this beautiful island and the author Janice Horton has treated us to quite an adventure.  You can feel a sense of place with the lush surroundings but also the temper of the sudden change in weathers that the tropics often experiences.

A family saga/contemporary romance with a difference were the bright lights led to stunning sunset vistas and a place were the fantasy and mystery of long-forgotten treasures are still spoken about.
