After a shocking confrontation with an unexpected encounter, Constance tries to piece her life back together and is on a mission to finally move on.
The thought of having her friends near is comforting as they take time out of their busy online lives and meet up at their favourite place, A Cupful of Dreams Café. Everyone seems happy enough until cracks begin to show and all is not as good as it seems. Constance tries desperately to keep positive as there’s so much to look forward to: shopping for posh frocks, dinner at The Shard and a movie premiere.
As things start to look rosy, a few odd tweets begin to pop up from nowhere. At first, they seem innocent, but as the weeks go by and premier night draws near, not only do the tweets increase but they become more obnoxious.
By the time Constance and her chums arrive on the red carpet, she’s determined to work out who the troll could be and to keep them from spoiling her evening. However as Constance soon learns, the troll wants to destroy far more than that!
Breathtaking views of London.
Posh frocks and Paparazzi
But there’s definitely trouble in the air …
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes.
I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour for Anne John-Ligali’s latest instalment in the Friendships Online series: The Dinner in the Sky. Firstly, I’d like to apologise to the author, Anne John-Ligali, and also to the tour organiser Rachel for posting my review a day late.
The Dinner in the Sky is my first introduction to the works of author Anne John-Ligali. The Dinner in the Sky is Book 3 in the Friendships Online book series and I feel a little sad that I’ve come to the series at the final instalment as what I’ve learned from reading The Dinner in the Sky is that the author knows how to create a fun-packed story full of a myriad of characters. I would highly recommend reading the books in the series in order as you can then have a more fulfilled reading experience. The books in the series are:
- The Big Event
- The Weekend Spa Break
- The Dinner in the Sky
The Dinner in the Sky gears up to an exciting movie premiere, a new book cover launch and Constance’s love life is as eventful as one of the storylines in one of her bestselling novels.
As I hadn’t read any of the other books in the series it did take me a little time to get to know the characters but by the end of the story I felt so wrapped up in the storyline that what happened prior to this instalment didn’t worry me as my heart and mind was in the here and now.
I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of Constance’s sons condition and how the author sensitively wrote a storyline about a single mum coping with the challenges of bringing up a child with autism. There was still plenty of fun mixed in with this storyline and the sub-characters played a great part in the story blending a lot of humour and energy within.
The storyline feels very current with the inclusion of WhatsApp messages, Instagram stories etc making the whole story feel more alive. A great finale to what must have been a fab trilogy.
