Welcome to Ballycove, the home of Corrigan Mills…

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Irish countryside the famed mills have created the finest wool in all of Ireland. Run by the seemingly perfect Corrigan family, but every family has its secrets, and how the mills came to be the Corrigan’s is one of them…

Miranda and her husband were never meant to own the mills, until one fateful day catapults them into a life they never thought they’d lead.

Ada has forever lived her life in her sister’s shadow. Wanting only to please her mother and take her place as the new leader of the mill, Ada might just have to take a look at what her heart really wants.

Callie has a flourishing international career as a top designer and a man who loves her dearly, she appears to have it all. When a secret is revealed and she’s unceremoniously turfed out of the design world, Callie might just get what’s she’s been yearning for. The chance to go home.

Simon has always wanted more. More money, more fame, more notoriety. The problem child. Simon has made more enemies than friends over the years, and when one of his latest schemes falls foul he’ll have to return to the people who always believe in him.

Ballycove isn’t just a town in the Irish countryside. It isn’t just the base of the famous mills. It’s a place to call home.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour celebrating and promoting Faith Hogan’s latest contemporary romance: The Place We Call Home.

The Place We Call Home is a wonderful story of family and life with it’s high and lows.  It’s also a story of strength through adversity.  A story of bringing a whole community together with the goal of keeping the mills alive journeying through generation to generation.  It’s also a very poignant story of a love that never reached it’s peak but it kept it’s beat from the first step and of a love that took you by surprise and made you feel whole again.

I really enjoyed this Irish saga with a timeslip element from Faith Hogan.  A story set within a small village off the Irish coast that hold it’s residents and their strengths as the key to the memories that people love of Ballycove.

Life for young Miranda had been full of unease but when she met the grandson of the gentry from the local manor house Miranda found a kinship within Richard and a friendship that would last a lifetime was made.  But as fate dealt many blows Miranda’s way she was to learn that although life didn’t always go the way you hoped once you open your eyes and heart you see wonders all around you.

We travel along the journey of life with Miranda treading carefully through the murky waters and jumping through the joyous times.  A story that kept many secrets and hid tragedies and discomfort bringing new destinations and turning points to many.  Poignant and with a wonderful sense of community spirit and the joy of family, life, love, the past, the present and the thrill of what’s to come.
