Hopeless romantic Eva Jordan loves everything about Christmas. Even if she is spending it alone housesitting a spectacular Fifth Avenue apartment. What she didn’t expect was to find the penthouse still occupied by its gorgeous–and mysterious–owner.

Bestselling crime writer Lucas Blade is having the nightmare before Christmas. With a deadline and the anniversary of his wife’s death looming, he’s isolated himself in his penthouse with only his grief for company. But when the blizzard of the century leaves Eva snowbound in his apartment, Lucas starts to open up to the magic she brings…This Christmas, is Lucas finally ready to trust that happily-ever-afters do exist?

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and would like to thank the author and publishers for this.  Wow!  I so wanted to take my time reading this book, the 3rd instalment in the Manhattan series, I didn’t want the story to end.

This is Eva’s story.  Eva is a sweetheart who everyone adores.  She is beautiful with a sunny outlook on life and she is hoping for her own happy ever after.  Eva is one third of the event’s management company Urban Genie and her latest assignment is to decorate the apartment and cook and prepare meals for the bestselling crime fiction writer, Lucas Blade.  Eva is startled to learn that Lucas is still in residence of his apartment but a jobs a job and Eva carries on with her assignment.

Lucas and Eva are very different people, Eva is so upbeat and optimistic and Lucas with his secrets and heartache and with his head surrounded by crime writing he finds it difficult to trust people and to see the good in them.  As you can imagine these opposites clash a lot but slowly Eva’s sunny disposition starts melting Lucas’ exterior.

Lucas is suffering greatly with his heart since the sudden death of his wife 3 years ago,  he’s also suffering with his writing and with his grief and solitude Lucas is struggling to even start his next book.  With a deadline looming fear sets in.

Can Eva be the one to ignite Lucas’ writing and can she help him learn to love and trust again? Will Eva find her happy ever after or will the past cast a spell of doom for the future?

This was such a beautiful, heartfelt love story that was charged with so much chemistry it was powerful enough to melt the strongest of snowstorms!  I felt the grief, the emotions, the need and desire.  Sarah Morgan managed to pack this story with it all.  A heart warming, desire filled story that I wanted to go on and on.  5/5*

Paris, 1956. Eighteen year old Daphné may be from a tiny French village, but she knows she’s destined for more. Stepping off a bus into bustling Paris with a suitcase full of her home-made beauty products, she’s ready to do whatever it takes to claim her stake in the world.

London, 2016. Scandalous love affairs and an iconic cosmetics brand have kept Daphné Le Marche in spotlight – but her darkest secrets have never come to light. Now, in her London penthouse, enveloped in her rich signature scent, the Grande Dame of glamour has died.

But not even those closest to her could have been prepared for what came next.

I’d like to thank the publishers and netgalley for an arc in return for a review.

The Le Marche beauty empire is a family owned emporium creating exquisite beauty creams and lotions originated in 1956 Paris and now selling all over Europe.  The Le Marche dynasty however, is plagued by tragedy, scandal, lies, hatred but Daphne Le Marche, the founder of the company and product is hoping to throw a lifeline and reach out to the younger generations of her family with the hope to bring a light back into the business and heal the rift in the family.  Daphne, in her last will and testament, has left ownership of the company to her two granddaughters with a proviso …  This announcement causes immediate upset and anger to Robert Le Marche, the son of Daphne, who believed he was the rightful heir.

We follow the girls on their new journey discovering the company that has been left to them.  They have to both leave their present life and move thousands of miles to help bring the company and it’s product to the 21st century.  The family is riddled with so many secrets and much animosity that the task is not an easy one.

I enjoyed this story especially the time hops back to the 1950’s with a young Daphne hand making this organic skincare.  I loved hearing about her journey to success and to hearing about experiencing love for the first time.  Also hearing about other family members finding love was so wonderful, romantic but equally tragic.

I have to admit it did take me a little while getting into the characters but at the end I enjoyed the story and it left me feeling quite emotional and sentimental. It was a story filled with glamour, greed, tragedy, love and lust but there was hope and determination in believing in the true foundations of the family empire. 4.5/5*

About the Author (http://www.victoriafox.net/)Blog tour banner Santiago Sisters

By day I live in London. By night I relax in my fantasy LA mansion, sipping Krug in a Jacuzzi and watching a bare-chested man clean out my pool.

I was born in 1983, went to boarding school in my teens and studied English at university. While there, I wrote my first (unpublished) bonkbuster: The Hardest Part. It had lots of sex in it and not a great deal else. Suffice to say that after a rambunctious beginning it was over disappointingly quickly.

Despite this, the genre never lost its sheen. I want to write bonkbusters with swagger; rude, racy and irreverent reads that reignite the glory days of Collins and Cooper. Plenty of sex, bags of scandal and a host of outrageous players who keep us up long after lights-out.

A long-time admirer of Jackie Collins, I often wondered what life would be like as a bonkbuster author. After working in publishing for a few years, I decided to quit and find out – and I haven’t looked back since…

I am thrilled to share an extract from Victoria’s latest book and can’t wait to start reading it this summer; perfect summer holiday or staycation read!

By nine o’clock they were crossing the steppe. The wilderness was dotted with beech forests and glittering rivers. Calida was uncomfortable on Diego’s old criollo, and, despite the extra sheepskin she had piled on top of the saddle, she lagged behind.

All morning she was forced to watch Teresita up ahead, riding alongside Daniel, as if it were just the two of them.

Approaching midday, the heat became searing. Dust swirled in their eyes and nostrils, and they tied scarves around their faces to ward off the worst. The horses’ hooves picked a path between rocks and boulders. Calida saw Daniel finish an apple then lean forward, deep over his animal’s mane, to feed him the remains. When they stopped to rest, he tethered the horses in the shade and, before fetching a drink for himself, he filled a bucket with water from the stream and poured it gently over their heads, working it through their coats and removing the metal bits from between their teeth. Calida wished her father were here, because Diego would have liked Daniel.

The herd was on the other side of the valley and they rode hard to reach it in the light. Mustering was one of her favourite things: the rush of the cattle as they swarmed across the plains and the beat of their tread echoing across the land; the chase the horses gave as they circled the drive—and how, when the job was done, the beasts poured like water through a funnel into the next prairie. When night came, they set up camp in a sheltered vale, by the remains of a fire all ash and dust from their last visit.

Daniel warmed empanadas, and cooked an estofado stew, which he prepared on a wooden board. The handle of his facón was silver and intricately carved, and Calida decided it was of personal importance to him—a gift, perhaps—and remembered the family he had mentioned, so briefly, in Europe. Who were they?

After they had eaten, Daniel lit a cigarette and lay back on the arrangement of sheepskin and leather that would serve as his bed. His features danced in the flames. He let smoke out in a thin plume that shot deep into the night.

‘Daniel, will you help me?’

Teresita was struggling to lift the saddle from the ground, caught up as it was in her stirrups and reins. Calida sat on a log, her chin on her knees, and watched.

‘Here, like this,’ he said. Teresita giggled. Calida glanced away.

‘Should I set up next to you?’ Teresita asked.

‘It’s the best shelter,’ he replied. ‘Better to be under the trees.’

‘Better to be private…’

The voice Teresita said this in was older, more adult, than her thirteen years. From where had she got this way of speaking—their mama’s books?

Daniel didn’t respond, but then maybe he didn’t need to. Maybe he was looking at Teresita in the way Calida prayed and hoped he would one day look at her.

Unable to bear it, she got into her own bed. Normally, staying overnight, she and her sister would share, warm safety in the reassuring shape of each other’s bodies. Safety? All she thought now, when she thought of her twin, was danger. She wanted to scream: What are you doing? They were meant to be allies, not rivals.

I’d like to thank Sarah Morgan and her publishers for an arc in return for an honest review.

Sunset in Central Park is book 2 in the From Manhattan with Love series.  The books are set around 3 girl friends living, working and looking for love in New York.  The books are standalone but to appreciate and fully enjoy the characters I would recommend reading all the books in the series.  The books in chronological order are:

  1. Sleepless in Manhattan (From Manhattan with Love, book 1)
  2. Sunset in Central Park (From Manhattan with Love, book 2)
  3. Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, book 3)

I fell in love with all the characters in book 1, Sleepless in Manhattan, very early on in the book.  Sarah Morgan is very good at writing characters that are relatable and easy for readers to bond with.  You can find my review for Sleepless in Manhattan here.

This second book in the series was gorgeous, sexy, heart warming … all that I expect from Sarah Morgan and more.

This story concentrates on Frankie.  I loved Frankie’s character when we first met her in Sleepless in Manhattan, although she was very reserved and you could tell there was some hidden depth to her persona.

Frankie is one third of Urban Genie, the event organising company, the girls set up recently.  Frankie is the creative flair in the florist and horticulturist field.  Although she loves flowers and nature she is not a girlie girl and is quite a strong, independent young woman who likes her own company and especially likes escaping with a good horror book or thriller.  However, Frankie does have a vulnerable side to her and Matt, who is the brother of Paige and close friend to all 3 girls thinks he knows and understands Frankie.  Matt is hoping to break down Frankie’s barriers as he has been secretly holding a very bright flame for her and has been for a long time.

Matt understands he has to be careful with Frankie and play it real slow and gently ease their friendship into something more.  Frankie’s heart has been broken in the past and she doesn’t trust romance or relationships.  She believes they will all end in disaster.  Can Matt make Frankie realise that relationships and love can work?

This story was just so addictive.  It was a beautiful tale of friendship with some very poignant moments.  Sarah Morgan describes the locations of Manhattan and its surroundings including the idyllic Puffin Island so vividly, I could see the moody colours from the sunsets, smell the coastal air from Puffin Island and feel enveloped in the cosy atmosphere in the log cabins … bliss!  The mixture of romance with desire and heart warming moments was perfect.  I can’t wait for book 3: Miracle on 5th Avenue.

I’d like to share a quote that I particularly enjoyed from the story:

Would she spend less time worrying about things going wrong, she wondered, if she’d spent more time seeing them go right?

I’d like to thank the publishers for an arc in return for an honest review.

This is Phaedra Patrick’s debut novel and what a treat she has written for us all.  I utterly adored this sweet, quirky novel.  Devouring each chapter full of adventure and promise of more.  The adventure came at a time in Arthur’s life when he was very low and feeling lost.  The journey he took discovering the stories behind each charm were enlightening, sometimes they brought emotions out of Arthur he thought he’d never feel, but ultimately they opened up his mind to memories he had forgotten which gave him hope for the future.  A truly wondrous story full of adventure and quirks, a discovery to affirm what is most important in life.

A year on since Arthur’s beloved wife, Miriam, had died he plucked up the courage to sort out her belongings.  Whilst moving things from her wardrobe he came upon a locked heart shaped box.  When he eventually got the box open it revealed a gold charm bracelet with a collection of unusual charms adorned on it.  Arthur had never seen his wife wear this charm bracelet before and he was very curious as to why his wife kept it hidden in a box and secret from him.

We follow Arthur’s journey discovering the origins of each charm which takes him on a journey to India, Bath, London, Paris and Scarborough.  Arthur discovers many wonderful characters along the way, sees sights and hears sounds he’s never heard of before and makes lasting friends he can rely on.

This was such a remarkable story and has been one of my favourite reads so far this year.  I believe it would make a great movie and would love to see the actor Bill Nighy play the character of Arthur.

A wonderful, charming, quirky, life affirming story.  5/5*

This was a delightful story that I greedily devoured.  Fiona Harper has created such a lovely storyline that involved community spirit, making new friends, opening your heart to new love.  It was inspirational, entertaining, heart warming and just so lovely …

Pippa has returned to her family home following a very public break-up from her husband who left her for a glamour model he met whilst he appeared on a reality TV show.  She is heart broken and feeling low and just wants to disappear in this sleepy Kent village she grew up in.

Pippa’s sister encourages her to start dancing again as it was something she loved when she was younger and is hoping the dancing will boost Pippa’s self-esteem.  Pippa decides to join a ladies tap class at her old dance school; Miss Mimi’s School of Dancing.  She doesn’t expect to see the wonderful, eccentric Miss Mimi still teaching but is overjoyed when she sees Miss Mimi again.  Miss Mimi’s dance classes are as popular as ever but unfortunately the dance teacher’s admin skills are non-existent.  Pippa soon finds herself working for Miss Mimi helping to organise the admin side of the dance school.  Pippa discovers she has arrived at the right time financially for the school and also personally for Miss Mimi as her health begins to cause a concern.

Pippa, with her new found dance friends, decide to rescue the dance school and Miss Mimi by putting on a show.  However, Pippa has to overcome her fears and relive the reason she gave up dancing 20 years ago.

I adored this story, it was such a pleasure to read and at the end I felt like I wanted to read it all again.  5/5*

ny at night silhouette

I received this book in exchange for an honest review and would very much like to thank the publishers for this arc.

Oh my where do I start with feedback, this story was like your very own award winning romance movie at your fingertips.  It was so romantic and sexy you could feel the heat emanating from the characters from the pages.  The sexy scenes were tastefully done and were true to the characters history and personality.

The story is set around 3 girlfriends, a brother and his best friend.  Paige, Frankie and Eva have been best friends for such a long time and when they managed to get employment within the same company they couldn’t have been happier.  However, when the company they work for is making cutbacks and the girls are left without employment they believe they’ll never share a great working relationship with each other again.  Until however, Jake, Paige’s brother Matt’s best friend, encourages the girls to set up their own business.  The girls with renewed enthusiasm prepare to work as a team.

Jake and Matt have been best friends forever and when Paige spent a few weeks in hospital to have a lifesaving operation Jake was her saviour.  He didn’t mollycoddle her like her brother and parents, he treated her normally and made her smile and forget about her illness.  Paige soon became close with Jake and started to develop strong feelings for him.  After many years since her operation Paige is still close to Jake but not as close as before, she let her feelings control her head back then and Jake became cooler with her.  Paige still finds Jake attractive and her feelings for him haven’t really altered and when the pair start working together on an assignment you can feel the underlying chemistry between them.

The story focuses mainly on Paige and Jake’s journey struggling with the intense chemistry which never fades when they are together.  Can their shared history heal Jake’s past which left him heartbroken and confused about the meaning of love?

I loved all the characters in this novel and am looking forward to hearing Eva’s story, she is so lovable and enthusiastic.  Frankie’s story would be quite different I believe to Eva’s.  Frankie is so anti-men, she is independent and happy with her life at the moment, however, she does share a stronger bond with Paige’s brother than Eva and I am hoping Matt can prove to Frankie that not all men are the same.

Sarah Morgan always creates wonderful, warm characters you can easily relate to and want them as friends.  Her description of the book settings are idyllic she sees beauty in all surroundings.

This story left me feeling very contented and wanting more from Paige, Eva, Frankie, Matt and Jake.  Excited for more from these much loved characters.  5/5*
