No one wants to be single at the holidays.
Even Little Miss Grinch, Nikki, a successful and independent woman, must face her bachelorette status at the most horrible time of the year.
December is her personal version of holly-jolly hell: a merry torture made of couples kissing at every corner, forced vacation days, and an inescapable family reunion.
And when her baby sister announces she’s engaged—to Paul, the man Nikki is secretly in love with—and that he’s spending the holidays with them, Christmas starts looking bluer than ever.
Nikki can’t possibly survive an entire week trapped home as the family’s spinster. But she has no time to meet men or to try the newest dating app, she’s too busy working as a video producer for an advertising agency.
So what’s a girl to do?
Nikki has the perfect solution: to hire a fake boyfriend.
Luckily, her job gives her access to an endless catalog of gorgeous actors to choose from.
But Nikki will soon discover that keeping business and pleasure from mixing isn’t so easy, and that she might not be immune to a little mistletoe magic. Especially not when she picked out the perfect man as her Christmas date…
A fun, festive romantic comedy with lots of bad behavior and Christmas spirit. Like a creamy hot chocolate with marshmallows, you won’t want to put this deliciously hilarious novel down. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Sally Thorne, and Jo Watson.
First Comes Love is a series of interconnected romantic novels. However, each book in the series can be read as a standalone.

A Christmas Date Full Tour Banner

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes.

So what do you do when your annoying younger sister announces she’s got engaged to the guy you’ve been secretly in love with for years?  Well simply you hire a fake boyfriend!  A boyfriend you can invite back home to your parents at Christmas to quieten down the regular comments of “are you still single Nikki?” from well meaning relatives.

Nikki is highly successful in her professional life but her love life hasn’t had much look mainly because she’s been harbouring feelings for her good friend Paul for such a long time.  Paul that has asked your younger sister to marry him.  Nikki feels like she cannot spend another Christmas at home with the same old questions and she can’t cope with the love fest from her sister.  So, working at an Advertising Agency gives Nikki the ideal opportunity to browse the actor books to find a perfect boyfriend.  Maybe someone to make her sister jealous or even Paul?

Nikki finds the ideal candidate; a dark, smouldering half Italian/Irish struggling actor, Diego.  Diego sounded like he was fit for the job on paper so finger’s crossed for Nikki that he plays the part.

Travelling home for Christmas with someone you’ve only known for a matter of days was the start of a whole new adventure for Nikki.  An adventure that would open her eyes and make her reassess her relationship with many.

I absolutely adored A Christmas Date.  A Christmas Date is book three in the First Comes Love series and can easily be read as a standalone.  The author Camilla Isley treats her readers to a fun, exquisitely romantic story but also a story that’s filled with festive warmth and nostalgia.  Diego is a dreamboat of a book boyfriend and Camilla Isley’s festive story will have you purring 😉 over the pages.

Gorgeous, addictive, fun and festive.

She needs to finish college and turn the page on an impossible love story… but can she be stronger than her feelings?

Two brothers in love with the same girl.
Two best friends in love with the same guy.
A love triangle within a love triangle…

pink heart scrollI Don’t Want to be Friends is Book 4 in the Just Friends series. The Just Friends series is a set of four stories centred around the friendship of a group of college students in Boston. We follow the friends as they start their next adventure in life; moving home, starting college, finding new friends and new loves and this is all mixed in with life’s everyday hurdles. The books are part of a series and to fully appreciate the full enjoyment of the stories I would highly recommend reading them all in order:
Let’s Just Be Friends, Friend Zone, My Best Friend’s Boyfriend, I Don’t Want to be Friends.

It was great to be back in Boston to the young friends we have learned about in this series. This story focuses on Haley and her dilemma with her very confused emotions revolved around the Williams brother; David and Scott. For nearly a year Haley has been dating Scott but when he went away for a few months to work on his internship their relationship cooled and Haley was left hurt and unsure of where she stood with Scott. During these few months Haley and David built up a friendly rapport but when Scott returned Haley was so excited to see him again she welcomed him home with open arms. Seeing his brother return home into the arms of the girl David secretly loved angered him and he thought he knew how Haley’s heart truly felt.

With confused hearts and angered souls the two brothers and Haley were struggling with their emotions. However, there is another victim in this love triangle that is suffering with her feelings towards someone that is already taken.

I loved how the author in this story created two very different brothers, both strikingly handsome but each with their own personality. David the older brother had a devilishly dynamic about him but there was a side to him that appealed to many and he was so astute understanding people and situations. He was also deeply loyal to his family but ultimately when he wanted something he went for it. Scott was more level headed but I felt at times he could be a little selfish.

This was another great instalment in this emotive YA series. I’m certainly not at the age of a YA character but I love reading about the emotive feelings between characters in YA stories as whatever age we are our feelings on life and it’s struggles and complications are pretty much the same.

A gorgeous, sexy, emotive series.

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour promoting and celebrating the release of Camilla Isley’s latest book I Have Never.  This is the second book in the First Comes Love series and each book in the series can be read as a standalone but to be honest once you’ve read and enjoyed one of Camilla Isley’s stories you want to read them all.

This is Blair Walker’s story who has lived her life with a list of ‘Never’s’ from advice given to her whilst growing up.  She’s been happy living and abiding with this list but when one day her life starts crumbling around her she decides to rebel against the list.

Our leading lady, Blair, sounded like a vibrant young woman who was career orientated and never lost the sights of her dream as a Fashion Editor for a magazine.  Blair was initially taken in by the glossy images of the upmarket offices and of her peers at Evoque Magazine but when she takes a step back and has a closer look revealing the ugly warts of the business she thinks again about her dream.  Appearances definitely are deceiving.  I instantly fell for the charms of our leading man who had a vulnerability about him.  With the introduction of a stray lost puppy the story took on another dimension and both leading characters were softened by this lovable furry friend.

With Blair rebuilding her life and defying against the list and accidentally falling secretly in love with her new boss Camilla Isley has written us a gloriously, fun filled romance.  I loved it!

Have you ever wondered what might have been?
Gemma’s at the airport, staring at two plane tickets to two different cities. Two different weddings. Two different futures. She’s at a crossroads.
Be maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding or crash her ex’s?
Gemma’s decision, unknown to her, hinges on a delayed flight and a chance meeting. Now her life is about to go down two parallel tracks–will Gemma fly toward a life with her first love or a future with a man she’s not even met yet?

In concurrent storylines, Gemma lives out the consequences of each journey. Different stories unravel with unpredictable outcomes for Gemma and her loved ones. As the alternative realities run their course, humor and romance intertwine raising questions about fate and chance. Will these parallel universes converge? Is true love meant to be? Is everyone destined to have a soul mate? Or are one’s cards just a choice away from reshuffling?

Love Connection is a romantic comedy about one woman, life’s infinite possibilities, and the destiny that lies beyond two different choices. First Comes Love is a series of interconnected romantic novels. However, each book in the series can be read as a standalone novel.

I adored this romance from Camilla Isley.  It was very clever story telling; one woman with two options, which would you choose?

Gemma is at the airport waiting to board one of two flights.  She has two tickets: one to San Francisco and one to Chicago.  Two weddings on the same day; one Gemma has been invited to, the other she hasn’t!  If Gemma chose San Francisco she’d be gate crashing her ex’s wedding and declaring her love for Jake.  Gemma hasn’t stopped loving Jake since they split up 3 years ago.  He was her childhood sweetheart and first love and they have a special bond that with lack of communication went wrong.  If Gemma chose Chicago she’d be Maid of Honour for her best friend Amelia’s wedding.  Gemma can’t decide on the two options; does she follow her heart or her head?

The story then cleverly continues with the two scenarios running parallel in time with each other.  We follow Gemma and her heart going to San Francisco, then on the flipside we head to Chicago with a broken hearted Gemma knowing she has lost Jake forever.  Each parallel storyline doesn’t go without a hitch and obstacles a plenty crop up with fun consequences.  Gemma also has some lovely tender moments rekindling romance with the love of her life after a 3 year gap and also has moments learning to love again following her heartache.

This was a cute, clever, fun, sexy, romantic read with these two parallel stories and I couldn’t work out how the story was going to end.  Such a gorgeous, quirky, flirty story that left me guessing till the end.  Heart warming in abundance romance with a twist to fully entertain you.  5/5*

I’d like to thank the author, Camilla Isley, for an arc in return for an honest review.

This is Camilla’s debut novel self-published under the Pink Bloom Press label.  I was first drawn to Camilla’s novels by the gorgeous covers, I love the silhouetted figures against the pretty pink background for this cover and the blue background for her second novel A Sudden Crush.  Please find my review for A Sudden Crush here.  I also love Camilla’s style of writing contemporary fiction with a grown up fairytale twist to them.

This was such a fun, whimsical read with a touch of fairytale magic thrown in, and who doesn’t love a Disneyesque story to fill you with hope and warmth?!

Ally is still heart broken a year on from her break up with her boyfriend James.  She still cannot understand why, when they were both at their happiest, James suddenly broke up with her.  She has been avoiding all James’ old haunts for a year but when she suddenly bumps into him with Vanessa, her nemesis from work, she can no longer avoid him and his new relationship status anymore.

Ally feels this new hurt even more and hits a new low.  She visits an antique market with her mother to take her mind off things and becomes enchanted with a stunning, antique box. She doesn’t buy the box.  However, when she returns home she discovers the box alongside with a dark, handsome stranger has magically made their new home with her.  This stranger is an English gent in all his finery, going by the name of Arthur, and can grant Ally 5 wishes.

Will this stranger be able to grant Ally her true desire to be reunited with her one true love James?  Will the possession of this magic solve all Ally’s woes or will it lead to more problems?

We follow Ally and the gallant Arthur on her journey to win back her lost love.  We also discover the secret of Arthur’s past, which is quite tragic and beautiful.

Can the power of her wishes be enough for Ally’s happy ever after?

A gorgeous, romantic, modern fairytale 4/5*

I’d like to thank the author, Camilla Isley, for an arc in return for an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read by Camilla Isley, when Camilla contacted me regarding her books I was initially drawn to her novels with the covers.  A Sudden Crush has a gorgeous summer blue background with tropical trees and flowers enclosing a silhouetted couple and a monkey.  The cover looked dreamy and an ideal escapist read for a cold winter’s day.  The synopsis was my next port of call with a view to reading this novel and it sounded like a fun read.

I was soon drawn into the story.  Camilla had developed great characters in Joanna Price and Connor Duffield, I warmed to them quickly.

Joanna Price is a book editor working for a top publishing firm in the city of Chicago, she fell in love and married the handsome bestselling author Liam. Joanna and Liam had just boarded the plane for their honeymoon however, after a mad rush to the airport to catch the plane there were no spare paired seats left for the honeymooners to sit on so Joanna was paired with a Mr Grumpy, aka Connor Druffield, and much to Joanna’s dismay her beloved is sat next to a stunning model.  Joanna pleads with her neighbour Connor to change seats but he grumpily replies he’s happy where he is sat next to the window and doesn’t wish to swap seats.  So Joanna and Connor are lumped with each other for the rest of the plane journey.  Unfortunately, the plane journey is hit by turbulence and we find Joanna and Connor waking up stranded on a deserted tropical island.  Joanna is not impressed of all the people to be stranded on an island with is Mr Grumpy.  Connor is also pretty much not overwrought with his companion as he is a country boy rancher who has a dislike for city girls.

Connor soon settles into survival mode on the island and builds a shelter, fire and hunts for food in the sea and jungle.  After Joanna’s initial shock finding herself on the island she is distraught about her husband Liam, is Liam alive, will she see Liam again, will they be rescued off the island?  Joanna eventually calms down and befriends an orphaned monkey who soon becomes inseparable with her, Joanna happily names this little monkey Manny.

We follow the journey of how Joanna and Connor survive on the island, how their relationship develops from loathing each other to actually talking to each other, as there’s not an awful lot else on a desert island they can do.  There are some wonderful comedy moments between the pair and some lovely endearing moments.  I loved this part of the story.  It did actually sound idyllic and I soon fell in love with Manny followed by Connor! 🙂

The story continues after they’ve been rescued.  How will Joanna and Liam’s marriage cope with this traumatic event?  Will Joanna’s life go back to normal?  Will Joanna and Connor ever meet up again?

I adored this novel.  It was like a modern day fairytale: like a cross between Robinson Crusoe and Cinderella.  When I got to the end I sighed as I loved the ending but I was also distraught as I didn’t want the story to end, I’d love to know more about how the characters lives continued.  This novel had it all funny comedic moments; idyllic location; a gorgeous endearing monkey; characters to fall in love with and to despise; a heart warming story that gives you hope and makes you smile and a story that you wish could go on and on …  5/5*
