Picking up where book seven left off, Maisie’s plans to celebrate her book’s thrilling news remain on hold after Sidney has vanished from Port Hewer overnight, following a brush with his secret past. His departure leaves Maisie with a head full of questions and a heart torn in two, made even worse by the rumors flying about him through the town. Where and why has he gone? Will he ever come back again? And—foremost in Maisie’s mind—was the heartache from his younger days somehow to blame for his sudden and mysterious flight?

But when Dean convinces her that Sidney may be facing a choice that could ruin his life, Maisie must set out to find him, once again leaving behind the Cornish seaside haven of Port Hewer she’s come to think of as home, and leaving behind the answer to a secret she’s been longing to know since the beginning. Not knowing when or if she’ll return, she’s taking the biggest risk with her heart so far…and the truth she discovers waiting for her at the end of her journey will make her wonder if things can ever possibly be the same as they were before.

I am so pleased to be involved in the Publication Day Push for The Cornish Key to Happiness, the final instalment in the A Little Hotel in Cornwall series written by Laura Briggs.

The Cornish Key to Happiness is Book 8 in the A Little Hotel in Cornwall series, a series I’ve enjoyed learning about Maisie’s plight to find her favourite author and fulfil her dream to become an author. There’s been plenty of twists and turns along the way for Maisie but with all good series there has to be a finale.

I felt that this instalment held a bit of a foreboding atmosphere and I couldn’t guess which way the author would take lovely Maisie next. After the last instalment when we saw Sidney flee after a startling surprise from his past, understandably Maisie is very upset. She doesn’t know what to think, she doesn’t know where or why or for how long he has gone. Their blossoming relationship was doing so well and now the past that Sidney kept so well hidden has made itself known to him, is this the end for Maisie and Sidney?

Dean, Sidney’s best friend, persuades Maisie to find Sidney as he believes she is the only one that can talk to him. Maisie’s journey to find Sidney takes her to places she never dreamed of and she feels like her voyage has been wasted when she is met with obstacle after obstacle.

Laura Briggs takes the reader on an emotional trip with Maisie seeking out the truth of what the last 12 months in Cornwall have been about. Will Maisie find Sidney? Will we find out who the elusive author is?

A Little Hotel in Cornwall has been a charming read; full of hopes, dreams, adventure and romance.

Author Bio Some time ago Penny Hampson decided to follow her passion for history by studying with the Open University. She graduated with honours and went on to complete a post-graduate degree.

Penny then landed her dream role, working in an environment where she was surrounded by rare books and historical manuscripts. Flash forward nineteen years, and the opportunity came along to indulge her other main passion – writing. Penny joined the New Writers’ Scheme of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and  three years later published her debut novel, A Gentleman’s Promise, a historical mystery/romance and the first in The Gentlemen Series. An Officer’s Vow soon followed and the latest in the series is A Bachelor’s Pledge.

But never happy in a rut, Penny also writes contemporary suspense with paranormal and romantic elements. Her first book in this genre is The Unquiet Spirit, published by Darkstroke.

Verona is the City of Love. But will Suzie find romance there or, like Romeo and Juliet, will it all end in tears?

When Suzie is hired to accompany spoiled, abrasive Lady Alexandra Tedburn on an all-expenses paid holiday to Italy, she fears the trip will be a disaster.

But she soon discovers there’s more to Alex than shopping and tantrums, and she’s determined to help her realise her potential – against Alex’s authoritarian father’s wishes.

As they settle in Verona, Suzie can’t stop thinking about local artist Michael, who is still mourning the tragic death of his wife. With Suzie’s future uncertain, and Michael’s past
holding him back, it seems there’s no hope for romance in the city of
star-crossed lovers… or is there?

A gorgeously uplifting and moving story, Dreaming of Verona is the perfect read for fans of Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant and Jenny Oliver.

Dreaming of Verona pub day push

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour celebrating and promoting the launch of T.A. Williams latest novel: Dreaming of Verona.

From the tragic love stories delivered via the words of Shakespeare to a story that shows a modern day mirror to some of the Bards famous works.  T.A. Williams has written another gorgeous story that’s like a travelogue around Italy specifically Venice and Verona.  I don’t know Italy at all but I instantly felt welcomed to these iconic tourist locations.  The author, T.A. Williams, knows his book locations well and describes the area, atmosphere and culture beautifully.

Dreaming of Verona to me felt like two leading ladies stories in one.  Suzie has been hired to chaperone a young aristocrat lady whilst holidaying in Italy.  Suzie has to keep Alex on the straight and narrow but on first impressions the girls clash and Suzie’s job is proving a lot more difficult than first envisaged.  However, as time goes on Suzie and Alex didn’t expect to fall in love; with Verona, with new possibilities and most of all with new friendships.

A story that takes you on a voyage of discovery for the girls in their professional, personal and family lives.  I loved discovering Verona with Suzie and Alex and I envied them of this month long holiday that was to become a time of reflection for them both.

T.A. Williams has a winning formula of transporting his readers away to idyllic settings and immersing them in beautiful landscapes to complement the lovely stories.

TA WilliamsAuthor Bio – I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations and, as a writer, I obviously have to go there in person and check them out first. I love my job…

As spring slips away from the hotel Penmarrow, excitement builds for an exclusive auction hosted at the hotel, featuring priceless possessions from a Hollywood actress turned lady of the manor, including her famous diamonds. Celebrities and collectors form a crowd that is keeping Maisie and the rest of staff busy, even as Maisie faces a crossroads for her manuscript.

But when the diamonds are stolen and Sidney is accused by the authorities, Maisie’s dilemma as a writer is pushed aside out of fear that his future in Port Hewer is in jeopardy. Desperation to prove that someone else is behind the theft will lead Maisie to uncover a very different secret outside of jewel thieves and village rumors … one that could change her life and her future forever.

Can Maisie deal with the latest secrets exposed — including those that paint Sidney’s past in a questionable light? And as summer’s dawn alters her idyllic life in Cornwall, will Maisie’s feelings for Sidney change as well?

The Cornish Secret of Summers Promise

I am so pleased to be involved in the Publication Day Push for the next instalment in Laura Briggs A Little Hotel in Cornwall series: The Cornish Secret of Summer’s Promise.

This is book four in A Little Hotel in Cornwall series and our would-be writer Maisie is still no where near her dream of becoming a published author.  However, after spending nearly a year in Cornwall working at the prestigious hotel on the clifftops Maisie feels like she has gained much more.

The hotel is excited for the next big event, a celebrity auction of jewels and memorabilia that once belonged to a Hollywood actress.  The hotel is in chaos as security is tightened and new guests arrive to view the artefacts.  However, disaster strikes and a theft occurs and it doesn’t take long before the finger of suspicion is pointed to a few of our well loved characters.  Can Maisie help herself and her friends find the thief?

The author, Laura Briggs, has filled this instalment with so many twists and turns that I didn’t foresee.  I thought I knew who was what but Laura Briggs has given us a book filled with many treats and surprises.  The ending was quite emotive but it’s left the author and reader plenty of new adventures to come.

Drama, mayhem, romance and the chance of a dream come true.

Home is where the heart is…
Holly doesn’t have time for a holiday this year. But when her job threatens to send her over the brink, her boss insists she take a sabbatical. So she packs her bags and escapes to her beloved grandmother Gigi’s house on Wishington Bay, which has sat empty since Gigi passed away.

But Holly’s dreams of a coastal escape take an unexpected turn. Holly didn’t expect to spend time with any man this summer – let alone an Aussie Adonis…but when she meets her next door neighbour Gabe and his little dog Bryan, it’s clear her quiet summer of strolling along the sand and wandering through the seaside village’s tiny streets on her own will come with a hefty dose of distraction.

With a summer to fill and Gigi’s wonderful and surprising house to sort through, Holly knew it would be a summer packed with old memories. She just didn’t expect to make so many new ones…

Coming Home to Wishington Bay is the new gorgeous uplifting rom-com from Maxine Morrey, perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan and Tilly Tennant!

Coming Home To Wishington Bay

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes

I am so pleased to be involved in the Publication Day Push for Maxine Morrey’s latest novel: Coming Home to Wishington Bay.  Firstly I’d like to say a great big Happy Publication Day to Maxine Morrey.  This is only the second book I’ve read by this author and Maxine Morrey is becoming one of my favourite writers.

Coming Home to Wishington Bay is a wonderful story of new beginnings and taking stock of your life and finding your happy place.  It’s also a story of coping with the emotions that grief brings you and of struggling with health concerns.

Holly has been living and working in London for a good while and she’s been forced to take a sabbatical due to increasing worries regarding her mental health.  Holly has committed herself to her career and didn’t think nothing of working regular 12 hour plus days.  She’s also recently broken up from a relationship that has brought mixed emotions of anger, trust and humiliation.  Returning to Wishington Bay on the south-coast to her late Grandmother Gigi’s home Holly hopes that this time away from her London life is enough to get her back on track and to also appease her boss.

Holly didn’t expect her ‘r n r’ to include bumping into her new neighbour, hot doctor Gabe with his rescued ‘hot dog’ Bryan.  After initial confused introductions a friendship soon ensues between Holly and Gabe.  However, Gabe forgot to mention a little ‘white lie’ he told his parents and their friendship soon becomes a little more confused.

I loved the sound of Gigi’s home it sounded so idyllic being on the beachfront and with a small close-knit community of independent businesses in the village.  The blooming relationship between Holly and Gabe was good fun with lots of banter flying between them but you could sense a chemistry behind the cheeky chat.  I loved the interaction between Bryan, the adorable rescued pup, and all the characters it was very endearing and I always think animals bring a softness to characters in a story.

This is a beautiful, romantic story but touches on the subject of serious issues regarding mental health which made the storyline even more relatable.  Coming Home to Wishington Bay is a gorgeous feel-good story that will uplift and charm you.

Book Blurb
Struggling American waitress and aspiring novelist Maisie Clark dreams of becoming a full-time writer — even though in real life she’s just lost her chance at an exclusive writer’s mentorship program that would give her novel its big break. Desperate, she decides to take a chance and ask her favourite writer, a celebrated but reclusive English novelist, to help her find a second chance.

When she receives the author’s reply in an envelope with a Cornish postmark, Maisie decides not to take the writer’s half-hearted ‘no’ for an answer. With nothing to lose, she takes off for the author’s last known location, a beautiful hotel on Cornwall’s western coast. But when the hotel mistakes her for the latest applicant for a maid’s position, Maisie finds herself given an opportunity too good to lose … and a chance for a summer adventure far bigger than she ever imagined.

Surrounded by breathtaking Cornwall and working in an elegant hotel, Maisie’s world becomes one of secret identities, quirky friends, and unintentional mishaps — and despite reminders of past relationship disasters, a certain handsome, charming local resident Sidney Daniels has her conflicted about her heart’s desires, too.

Will Maisie find the chance she’s been waiting for — and a possible new romance — in her perfect Cornish summer?

A Little Hotel in Cornwall

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour celebrating and promoting the launch of Laura Briggs latest novella: A Little Hotel in Cornwall.  Firstly, I’d like to wish the author Laura Briggs a Happy Publication Day.  Oh my goodness I adored this novella by Laura Briggs and it’s the start of a brand new book series by her.

A Little Hotel in Cornwall filled me with so much joy and comfort but it also left me inspired for what lay ahead for Maisie and her dreams of becoming a novelist.

Maisie is a literary student from the States and when her dreams of mentorship by an accomplished author hit a ‘snag’ she decides to follow her dreams in an unorthodox way and find her own mentor.  Her favourite author, who’s personal life is filled with mystery and secrecy, lives in the UK and the only clue Maisie as of his whereabouts is the name of a hotel in Cornwall.  Maisie feels she has nothing to lose and much to gain with her Atlantic adventure about to start in a small coastal village in Cornwall.

A Little Hotel in Cornwall was such a delightful start to a new book series.  We soon learn to love our leading lady, Maisie, and are championing her dreams of becoming an author.  Experiencing Cornwall for the first time and this elegant hotel on the hill through the eyes of Maisie was charming and there was a lovely feel of idyllic escapism.  From the developing new friendships and the fun start to Maisie’s new adventure the author Laura Briggs has laid the perfect foundations for readers to be eager for more.

Delightfully charming, fun, romantic and full of feel-good vibes.  Can’t wait for book two!
