A dashing new neighbour…
Temptation on her doorstep!
To avoid an unwanted suitor at a ball, Hope Brookes asks another gentleman to rescue her. He obliges – with a surprisingly passionate kiss! Revealed as her sinfully handsome new neighbour, Lucius, Marquess of Thundersley, they forge a friendship over their balconies. It’s refreshing that Lucius is more interested in her writer dreams than her looks, so why can’t she stop thinking about that kiss?

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes.
I am so pleased to be involved in the Publication Day Push celebrating and promoting the launch of Virginia Heath’s latest novel: The Marquess Next Door.
I loved returning to Bloomsbury and to the often scandalous talk from society. Virginia Heath is one of the best in her field of Regency Romance, she has a wonderful way of creating characters that love nothing more than bantering with each other. These chats between strangers, friends, lovers is so addictive, I could sit and listen to their verbal exchanges for a long time!
The Marquess Next Door is Book Two in The Talk of the Beau Monde series and this story focuses on the middle sibling, Hope Brookes, a stunningly beautiful young lady that wants to prove there’s more to her than her looks. Hope feels like she’s overshadowed by her talented parents and siblings. They are each recognised for the skill they possess but Hope still has to make her mark in the world. Hope loves to write and has aspirations of having her work published but in a male orientated profession she is struggling to be taken seriously.
A recent newcomer to London society is Marquess of Thundersley, Lucius/Luke. Returning back to London after so many years away living in Cornwall is bringing up so many reasons why he relished leaving it all behind years ago. His return is also causing turmoil with flashbacks of the emotional and physical anguish he and his mother suffered via the hands of those they thought could be trusted. Luke is somewhat annoyed that he’s had to return to London but when he bumps into Hope Brookes a desire to stay in the city becomes that little bit more interesting and a friendship soon blossoms between them.
I adored this novel by Virginia Heath, at times it was endearingly charming and at others it was gloriously sexy. Both Hope and Luke had trust issues and this was an obstacle they had to overcome to be able to accept the past, accept their worth and learn to listen to their heart.
I can’t wait to read the next instalment in the series and learn what awaits young Charity but also I need to know how life is fairing for Hope and Luke.
Bravo Virginia Heath I’m in love with the Belles and Beaus of Bloomsbury.
About the Author
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
