I don’t know how Sarah Morgan does it but each book I pick up from her is as good, if not, better than the previous.  Sarah Morgan has a huge provenance of writing outstanding bestselling stories and once again she has succeeded.

The Christmas Sisters was a perfect read.  It whisked me away to a disfunctional family that had suffered the most tragic of events at a very young age.  The three sisters lives from that moment were to change forever but the memories of that terrifying night will stay with them.  Twenty-five years on since the untimely death of their parents sisters Hannah, Beth and Posy were due to be reunited at their adoptive parents home in Scotland.  With emotions running high at this anniversary time the sisters and Suzanne, their adoptive mom, were still experiencing the horrors from that fateful night.  A night which was to play heavy on the minds of them all.  Hannah the eldest struggled with emotional relationships and of accepting love.  Beth was a constant worrier and Posy, who was so young at the time of the tragedy, could only remember the overwhelming supply of being loved but Posy now wanted to spread her wings.

Life had moved on for the sisters with Hannah and Beth living in the states.  The two eldest sisters were experiencing a crisis of their own leading to a rash change in their usual character bringing all sorts of confusion and chaos.  Suzanne, the girls’ adoptive mum, has spent the last twenty-five years consciously making life perfect for the girls but the trauma of this fateful night has always been prominent in her mind.

I was drawn to this novel initially due to the author’s acclaimed pedigree, then to the stunning festive scene on the cover of the novel depicting a beautiful property surrounded by snow.

Sarah Morgan has cleverly woven a delightful romcom delving into the lives of four women who had a shared experience of a tragedy.  Although the sadness from this event was so heart-breaking the sisters grew up in a beautiful Scottish village surrounded by love.  The story deals with tragedy and loss, new beginnings and new friendships.  It’s a story filled with a wonderful feel-good factor and is very uplifting.  Sarah Morgan’s words invite you into another world, full of relatable people, their lives will touch your heart and you commit yourself 100% to the whole reading experience the author takes you on.  Festive reading at it’s best.

Matriarch Nancy knows she hasn’t been the best mother but how can she ever tell her daughters the reason why? Lauren and Jenna are as close as two sisters can be and they made a pact years ago to keep a devastating secret from their mother – but is it time to come clean? Lauren’s teenage daughter Mackenzie masks her own pain by keeping her mother at a distance. Her mother, aunt and grandmother keep trying to reach her but will it take a stranger to show her the true meaning of family?
When life changes in an instant, the Stewart women are thrown together for a summer and suddenly they must relearn how to be a family. And whilst unravelling their secrets might be their biggest challenge, it could also be their finest moment . . .

Beach houses Martha's Vineyard

Whilst reading this novel I was drawn to the descriptions of the houses in Martha’s Vineyard especially those on the beach. This image is taken from a google search.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. All opinions are my own and no content may be copied. However, authors and publishers may use elements of my reviews for quotes.

This was a wonderful, descriptive story of life, love, letting go of the past and new beginnings. A story of three generations of women from one family all holding back secrets until one night when one of the Stewart women’s lives is turned completely upside down. She turns to her family for support and the past they all thought they’d left locked away starts opening up bit by bit.

A mother, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter all facing different junctions in their lives. What they thought they knew of each other from the past wasn’t always the true picture and once the ladies start opening up and revealing their secrets that were kept hidden in dark places they start to see a different picture of how their attitudes and feelings to each other were like as a child and now as an adult.

Lauren with her teenage daughter, Mack, have to face drastic changes to their lives after a tragic event. When further revelations are revealed can this teenager and mum ever have the closeness they once had? Lots of questions need to be asked and the answers rake up many emotions that have been safely secured.

Jenna the younger sister of Lauren has been holding back on her own emotions from her mother and sister in particular. Emotions at home with her husband are becoming strained and the couple are struggling with how to help each other.

Nancy the mother and grandmother has for so long been the strong independent figure of the family but for the last few years she’s struggled. Her secrets can no longer be hidden as they’ve reached a point of no return. Secrets she knows that will upset and shake the family.

Mack has always struggled to fit in with the ‘cool’ crowd. Reinventing herself to be liked but not really letting herself be the truer version. It takes strength and courage for her to overcome her feelings of loss, grief, desperation and isolation.

I loved how the author Sarah Morgan wove this story of relationships between one family. It was interesting to see that once the secrets came tumbling out that the bond between them all was becoming stronger.

A truly gorgeous story that at times were emotive however, the general feeling was of warmth and uplifting, life affirming and full of unexpected romances at a time when you weren’t looking.

When you pick up a new Sarah Morgan book you know you are in for a treat.  I know through past experiences reading her novels that Sarah Morgan’s stories will envelope me in warmth, contentment, joy and love.  I’m always eager and excited to read all her new offerings but I just want to savour them as I don’t want the stories to end.

Moonlight over Manhattan is the 6th book in the From Manhattan with Love series.  Each book concentrates on one character but you will find that they will crop up in other stories and it’s wonderful when this happens as it is truly like watching your favourite romcom sitcom when a loved character that you’ve not seen turns up in a scene and you are instantly filled with a recognisable rush of love.  All the books in the series can be read as a standalone but I wholeheartedly recommend reading all the books in the series in chronological order.  The full list of the books in the series are:

Midnight at Tiffanys (prequel novella)

  1. Sleepless in Manhattan
  2. Sunset in Central Park
  3. Miracle on 5th Avenue
  4. New York, Actually
  5. Holiday in The Hamptons
  6. Moonlight over Manhattan

Moonlight over Manhattan is Harriet Knight’s story.  The quiet, shy twin who shares ownership of The Bark Rangers dog walking business with her twin sister Fliss.  Now that Fliss and their older brother Daniel are happily ensconced in a loving relationship with their respective partners Harriet is now living on her own in the city.  Harriet is starting to feel a little lonely and wants the companionship and love that her siblings have found.  Through a difficult childhood that has left emotional scars Harriet is at her happiest living in her comfort zone but as she’s now living independently she knows she has to start facing her fears and challenging herself to step out of her box and attempt the impossible in her eyes.

Dr Ethan Black thrives on the adrenalin that flows with his job in the city’s ER department.  After a failed marriage, which he feels responsible for, he has closed off his heart to help cope with the everyday chaos in the hospital.

One of Harriet’s clients is an adorable spaniel called Madi.  She’s full of life but is feeling a little unsettled at the moment as she has been left in the temporary care of Ethan Black, brother of Madi’s owner.  Ethan is not a dog lover but he loves his sister and doesn’t hesitate to help look after her dog Madi. However, Madi has other ideas and luckily for Ethan (and Madi) he can call on the expertise help from Harriet Knight.

Can Madi’s boundless energy bring shy Harriet and Dr Ethan Black together?  Harriet can cope with a stubborn dog but how will she fare with the Doctor?

I loved this story of Harriet overcoming many obstacles and finding herself.  But the story isn’t all one sided as Ethan himself has built a block around himself and he too has to face issues he doesn’t feel comfortable with.  A beautiful setting as always from Sarah Morgan with vivid descriptions helping you see and feel the locations.  I also love how the author has introduced animals in her stories as they lend a softer side to the characters and help spread more humour and warmth.

A gorgeous romance that’ll leave you feeling cosy and comforted.

classic house on hamptons

Sarah Morgan’s stories never disappoint, each story wraps itself around my heart caressing it with it’s delicious storyline of love finding it’s way.  I absolutely adored this story; Holiday in the Hamptons is the perfect antidote to a wet English summer’s day.  Sarah Morgan takes us on a beautiful journey to an idyllic coastal setting of the Hamptons.  I could hear the distinct sounds of the waves and the call of the sea birds and felt the light breeze in the air.  I was there sat on the beach with Fliss, the leading lady in this story.

Fliss 10 years ago had an intense hot summer in the Hamptons with Seth Carlyle.  The chemistry shared between the couple was to remain and a decade later when Fliss finds out he is in her neighbourhood, the city of New York suddenly feels like a very small space and Fliss is afraid of bumping into him so she escapes to stay with her gran in the Hamptons.  Her escape route doesn’t go to plan when the first person she meets is non other than her ex Seth Carlyle.  She is left almost speechless and goes to extreme lengths to keep her closely guarded feelings to herself.

Fliss together with her twin sister Harriet and older brother Daniel have had a difficult upbringing.  The trio have remained protective of each other and the insecurities they held as children are still felt in the background.  Seth’s upbringing was the total opposite to Fliss his family were loving and open with each other.  Can the shared love of the sea and dogs bring the couple back together?  Will the warmth from the setting melt away Fliss’ barriers?  A gorgeous, heart stopping romance that I didn’t want to end.  5/5*

I’ve just finished reading this irresistible novel and had to put down my thoughts straight away.  Sarah Morgan’s novels are a guaranteed page-turner and a delight and this latest one of hers; New York, Actually, is just simply wonderful.  You will fall in love with the characters, fall in love with Valentine and Brutus and best of all you will fall in love with the story.

New York, Actually is book 4 in The Manhattan with Love series.  You don’t have to read the other stories in the series as New York, Actually can be thoroughly enjoyed as a stand alone but to fully gorge yourself in the wonderfulness of this series I would recommend reading all the books in the series, which are:

  • Sleepless in Manhattan
  • Sunset in Central Park
  • Miracle on 5th Avenue

Molly has a secret persona, she is New York’s famous agony aunt and is owner of the relationship blog Ask a Girl.  Molly moved to New York three years ago following a relationship break-up that was publicly slammed on social media sending repercussions to her professional and personal life.  She never received any support from her so called friends back then and has continually blamed herself for what happened and believes she is a disaster in relationships.  However, her professional expertise in relationships is flourishing.  The only man in her life now is her dog Valentine.  Valentine is a Dalmatian breed dog with a sweet heart shaped nose he loves nothing more than to go jogging with Molly in Central Park.

Daniel is one of the top divorce lawyers in New York, he’s brilliant at his job and has a ‘love them and leave them’ attitude with women.  He doesn’t want everlasting love as he doesn’t agree in love.  Events in the past have hurt Daniel and his twin sisters badly and love is not on his agenda at all.  However, Daniel can’t stop thinking about the girl in the park running with her Dalmatian dog.  He normally has no problem with female attention but this girl seems to have ‘Daniel shaped blinkers’ against her eyes.  Daniel seeks the help of his sisters to try and attract the girl’s attention.  He decides to borrow one of the dogs from The Bark Rangers, the pet walking and fostering business, his twin sisters run.  Daniel claims to not be a dog person but the Alsatian dog he has taken for a walk soon takes a shine to Daniel but when the unlikely pair do meet up with the girl and her dog in the park the Alsatian and the Dalmatian become an instant hit.  Will this attraction spread to their unsuspecting humans?  Will Molly and Daniel learn to let down the barriers they’ve built from past experiences and give love a chance?

This story had it all!  It was full of sexual chemistry, romance, emotion and warmth.  Scenes to grip you and leave you fighting the pages to find out what happens next.  A gorgeous story that I just didn’t want to end … 5/5*

snowman-clipart

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and would like to thank the author and publishers for this.  Wow!  I so wanted to take my time reading this book, the 3rd instalment in the Manhattan series, I didn’t want the story to end.

This is Eva’s story.  Eva is a sweetheart who everyone adores.  She is beautiful with a sunny outlook on life and she is hoping for her own happy ever after.  Eva is one third of the event’s management company Urban Genie and her latest assignment is to decorate the apartment and cook and prepare meals for the bestselling crime fiction writer, Lucas Blade.  Eva is startled to learn that Lucas is still in residence of his apartment but a jobs a job and Eva carries on with her assignment.

Lucas and Eva are very different people, Eva is so upbeat and optimistic and Lucas with his secrets and heartache and with his head surrounded by crime writing he finds it difficult to trust people and to see the good in them.  As you can imagine these opposites clash a lot but slowly Eva’s sunny disposition starts melting Lucas’ exterior.

Lucas is suffering greatly with his heart since the sudden death of his wife 3 years ago,  he’s also suffering with his writing and with his grief and solitude Lucas is struggling to even start his next book.  With a deadline looming fear sets in.

Can Eva be the one to ignite Lucas’ writing and can she help him learn to love and trust again? Will Eva find her happy ever after or will the past cast a spell of doom for the future?

This was such a beautiful, heartfelt love story that was charged with so much chemistry it was powerful enough to melt the strongest of snowstorms!  I felt the grief, the emotions, the need and desire.  Sarah Morgan managed to pack this story with it all.  A heart warming, desire filled story that I wanted to go on and on.  5/5*

I’d like to thank Sarah Morgan and her publishers for an arc in return for an honest review.

Sunset in Central Park is book 2 in the From Manhattan with Love series.  The books are set around 3 girl friends living, working and looking for love in New York.  The books are standalone but to appreciate and fully enjoy the characters I would recommend reading all the books in the series.  The books in chronological order are:

  1. Sleepless in Manhattan (From Manhattan with Love, book 1)
  2. Sunset in Central Park (From Manhattan with Love, book 2)
  3. Miracle on 5th Avenue (From Manhattan with Love, book 3)

I fell in love with all the characters in book 1, Sleepless in Manhattan, very early on in the book.  Sarah Morgan is very good at writing characters that are relatable and easy for readers to bond with.  You can find my review for Sleepless in Manhattan here.

This second book in the series was gorgeous, sexy, heart warming … all that I expect from Sarah Morgan and more.

This story concentrates on Frankie.  I loved Frankie’s character when we first met her in Sleepless in Manhattan, although she was very reserved and you could tell there was some hidden depth to her persona.

Frankie is one third of Urban Genie, the event organising company, the girls set up recently.  Frankie is the creative flair in the florist and horticulturist field.  Although she loves flowers and nature she is not a girlie girl and is quite a strong, independent young woman who likes her own company and especially likes escaping with a good horror book or thriller.  However, Frankie does have a vulnerable side to her and Matt, who is the brother of Paige and close friend to all 3 girls thinks he knows and understands Frankie.  Matt is hoping to break down Frankie’s barriers as he has been secretly holding a very bright flame for her and has been for a long time.

Matt understands he has to be careful with Frankie and play it real slow and gently ease their friendship into something more.  Frankie’s heart has been broken in the past and she doesn’t trust romance or relationships.  She believes they will all end in disaster.  Can Matt make Frankie realise that relationships and love can work?

This story was just so addictive.  It was a beautiful tale of friendship with some very poignant moments.  Sarah Morgan describes the locations of Manhattan and its surroundings including the idyllic Puffin Island so vividly, I could see the moody colours from the sunsets, smell the coastal air from Puffin Island and feel enveloped in the cosy atmosphere in the log cabins … bliss!  The mixture of romance with desire and heart warming moments was perfect.  I can’t wait for book 3: Miracle on 5th Avenue.

I’d like to share a quote that I particularly enjoyed from the story:

Would she spend less time worrying about things going wrong, she wondered, if she’d spent more time seeing them go right?
