Awakened by the notorious rake!
In this The Wild Warriners story, schoolmistress Felicity Blunt feels old beyond her years―and desperately dull. Meeting confirmed rake Jacob Warriner brings her gloriously alive, and yet no matter his allure she must remain immune to his obvious charms and unashamed flirtation. But is Jacob merely a mischievous scoundrel? Or is there much more to this Warriner than meets the eye…?

I am so pleased to be involved in this one day blitz promoting the latest instalment in the Wild Warriners series by Virginia Heath.  A Warriner to Seduce Her is book four in the Wild Warriners series and I seriously recommend reading all the books in the series in order as the Warriner brothers are gloriously lovable and make very addictive reading.  The books in the series in order are:

  • A Warriner to Protect Her
  • A Warriner to Rescue Her
  • A Warriner to Tempt Her
  • A Warriner to Seduce Her

Once again Virginia Heath has created a wonderful hero and heroine in the fourth and final instalment of the Wild Warriners.  I’m sad to have reached the end of this gorgeous and addictive series which has taken me to the early 1800’s, to rural middle England and to four brothers who are trying to rebuild the family’s bad reputation.

As I’ve read and appreciated each brother and learned to love the family more and more with each story I think I’ve found my favourite brother but I think the baby of the family, Jacob Warriner, may have pipped all the other brother’s to the top spot!

I loved the back story behind this regency romance.  Felicity Blunt is attending her first society event, a few years later than most debutantes as she has been happily teaching at a school up north until her Uncle decided it was time she was seen out in London.  Felicity is a very strong-willed young lady and is determined to ignore the charms of all the suitors milling around the city and is counting the days till she can be back at her lovely teaching post.  When she meets Jacob Warriner, a gorgeous rogue of a rake, she thinks she can work out his intentions but Jacob is nothing but persistent when it comes to the ladies and Felicity Blunt is far more interesting than any of the other ladies he’s met in the past.

Jacob Warriner has a recognised reputation as one of the best rakes in town and ladies can be seen swooning over him but there is more to Jacob than meets the eye.  As we learn more about him there is a lot more depth to his character and Virginia Heath has treated us to some wonderful secrets in Jacob’s life.

This story had it all … a gorgeous rogue of a rake, lots of drama, danger, intrigue, family spirit and a romance that is very difficult to resist.  Long live the Warriner’s.

A Warriner To Tempt Her Full Banner (1)

I am so pleased to be involved in the blogtour celebrating and promoting the launch of Virginia Heath’s latest novel: A Warriner to Tempt Her.  I’m a huge fan of The Wild Warriner series and this novel is the third story.  The novels can be read as a standalone but my goodness you will be missing out on a treat if you don’t read all the books in the series and I would recommend reading them in order.  The books in the series are:

  • A Warriner to Protect Her
  • A Warriner to Rescue Her
  • A Warriner to Tempt Her
  • A Warriner to Seduce Her

Dr Joe Warriner is the sensible, studious one of the four Warriner brothers.  Joe always looks for the good in everyone, even of his late father who brought so much disrepute to the family.

Joe is also abit of a day dreamer and just recently his thoughts have been filled of Lady Clarissa Beaumont who he believes is the epitome of a perfect woman.  With her beauty and charm she is always surrounded by would-be suitors and never seems to notice the presence of Joe.  However, one Beaumont lady hasn’t mistaken Joe’s presence and when Joe is doing his rounds at the Foundling Home for children Lady Isabella Beaumont is always quietly in the background watching Dr Joe’s moves.

Lady Isabella (Bella) and her family are quite new to Retford following a very terrifying and traumatic incident in London.  The family were advised to take Bella away to the country to recuperate and heal.  Bella is still very traumatised over her ordeal and hates being around new situations but her voluntary work at the foundling home is slowly giving her confidence.  Bella revels in medicine and has devoured endless medical tomes and journals.

When an epidemic of a deadly disease is reported in Nottingham, mere miles away, panic sets in.  Joe is keen to quell the worries of the villagers of Retford and wishes to administer the new vaccination for the disease to all.  However, the vaccination is quite new following extensive research made by a fellow medical professional.  But not all are keen, the other local Dr who practices very unorthodox procedures quickly rebukes this new vaccination and argues against Joe’s proposal.  With lives at risk Joe and with the help of his keen assistant Bella need to swiftly take medical action.

The closer Joe and Bella work together the more Joe begins to realise that his heart had been set on the wrong Beaumont sister.  With Bella’s brain, kindness, bravery and quiet stubbornness she is a good match to Joe’s persona.

Chemistry soon bubbles between the pair but Joe soon realises all is not as it appears with Bella and she is hiding some dark secret that won’t let go of her mind.

The author Virgina Heath had taken extensive research of medical history for Joe’s story and this was clearly portrayed across the pages.  I was fascinated with this side of the story.  A Warriner to Tempt Her is a stunningly beautiful story that I thoroughly enjoyed.  All four Warriner brothers are hero’s in their own right but when Joe is put to the test his heroism is off the scale.  With his sensitivity to a very serious issue Joe calmly deals with it.  His passion for his love of medicine, his love for his brothers and now his love for Bella are his main strengths and the villagers and ourselves as readers are lucky to know Joe.

As the song goes … “Holding out for a Hero …” and along comes Captain James Warriner and all our wishes have been granted.  Virginia Heath has created the most unpretentious hero I’ve ever read about and I was swooning over Captain James, Jamie, with every page.  Captain James was a wounded soul, a young man of 27 not long since returning home after fighting in the Napoleanic war and then being held captive for months and during his escape he was shot several times leaving devastating injuries to his thigh.  Through sheer arrogance and stubbornness Jamie managed to save his leg but he is left with scars, deformity and a painful limp.  His physical scars have spread deep and his mind is left unsettled and the strong, courageous young man now fears of the dark and of his own sanity.  He cannot see past his imperfections and feels he is completely useless to anyone.  His only joy at the moment is his painting.  His view of the beauty and wonder of nature kept him strong through a turbulent childhood and now he fills his days with artwork.

Cassandra Reeves is the daughter of the new parish vicar.  Cassandra, Cassie, is a loner especially with the lifestyle of constantly moving due to her father’s job and his disposition.  Cassie has been brought up by her father for many years since her mother fled the shackles of her controlling marriage.  Sadly, Cassie is now left to cook, clean and obey her father and his beliefs.  When Cassie can get away she loves nothing more that riding out in the countryside on her pretty pony called Orange Blossom and also her love of writing stories gives her escape to another world.  On one of her rides this is when Cassie and Jamie meet under funny and embarrassing circumstances.

Since this unexpected acquaintance with Cassie Jamie has been fighting with his feelings.  An instant attraction was felt but due to his self confidence in his imperfections Jamie makes a complete hash and his demeanour is quite obtuse.  Cassie was also struggling with these new feelings from her brief encounter with the former soldier.

Can the young couples love of nature and creativity guide them though tough times that lay ahead?  Can they each rescue each other from their own personal darkness?

I loved Jamie’s character and could sympathise with his self-doubts.  This chivalrous man with toned physique wasn’t afraid of showing his gentler side but I think this combination of his personality traits was perfect for Cassie.  With her own troubled upbringing and feeling very vulnerable Cassie needed a strong man to help her overcome her obstacles but Jamie’s tender side gently healed Cassie’s mental torment.

Virginia Heath’s wonderful wit wound beautifully throughout the storyline creating a gorgeous romance that made you smile, made your heart beat, made you sigh with pleasure but then the tempo of the story grew and you were left gripped with tension.  Loved it!  5/5*

A Warriner to Protect Her is the first book in a new series by Virginia Heath.  The series is called The Wild Warriners and is set around four brothers Jack, Jamie, Joe and Jacob.  The Warriner boys live on a remote farm in Nottinghamshire and life on a farm was tough in 1813.  They are trying to rebuild the reputation of the family that has been sullied with gambling, drinking, cheating and tragedy.

The story begins with a terrifying ordeal for young heiress Violet Dunston.  She finds herself drugged and bound in a carriage heading for Gretna Green and her fate from thereon is fraught with danger.  Violet sadly lost her parents a few years ago, she has been left a huge inheritance which is due to be released on her 21st birthday, just over a month away.  She has become quite the catch in society with this inheritance looming.  Violet manages to escape from the carriage and runs scared for her life.  She stumbles across a lone horseman, Jack Warriner.  Jack can see the fear in Violet’s eyes and can also see that she is badly hurt.  Without any further hesitation he picks her up and caries her back to his farmhouse.

Jack’s brothers are shocked by this unexpected visitor but soon rally round caring for the forlorn young woman.  Jack can sense fear still in the young woman and realises whoever she is afraid of could be closeby searching for her.  He vows to protect her.  Can Jack protect Violet from her kidnappers and keep her safe till she can collect her rightful inheritance?

I loved this story.  It was deliciously moreish!  The Warriner brothers had grown up under a cloud and were doing all they could to break free from this tarnish in their family history.  The boys had grown up into strong handsome men and reminded me a little of The Musketeers, the bond they shared was unbreakable.  A young beautiful woman suddenly in their household brought new challenges to Jack.  He was struggling with his desire but his responsibility for the young woman was at the forefront of his mind.

A gorgeous Regency romance with swoon worthy male characters, all four brother would set your heart a flutter.  A daring, dramatic historical romance that is deliciously moreish 5/5*
